Cathy Lassiter is a Professional Development Associate with The Leadership and Learning Center. Her specialties with The Center include accountability planning, data driven decision-making, Data Teams, implementation support, and leadership development. Cathy is able to make learning relevant to participants by applying her 28 years of experience in an urban division. While there, this division utilized The Center’s services for 10 years.
Prior to her recent retirement, Cathy held a number of leadership positions including Executive Director of Middle Schools, Senior Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Staff Development, Middle School Principal, and High School Teacher. While Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Cathy’s district won the prestigious Broad Prize in Urban Education. Cathy has also served as an Adjunct Professor for The George Washington University teaching graduate courses in educational leadership.
Cathy also has vast experience working with middle and high school students. As a middle school principal, she concentrated on serving the needs of all students by imposing rigorous standards and high expectations. She was named Virginia’s Middle School Principal of the Year for the great success in her school. As a teacher at the middle and high school levels, Cathy proved her ability to successfully reach students from all backgrounds.
Cathy earned her Doctorate in Educational Administration and Policy Studies from The George Washington University. She holds an Education Specialist degree from the same University.
Cathy possesses a high energy level and an unparalleled commitment to serving students in traditionally under-served populations. She has dedicated her entire career in public education to providing the highest quality education to all students.
