Gabriel Rshaid

Gabriel Rshaid is a Professional Development Associate with The Leadership and Learning Center.

Gabriel has more than 20 years of experience as an educator in an international setting, having worked as a classroom teacher and administrator in bilingual schools within the University of Cambridge (CIE) and International Baccalaureate programs.

He is currently Headmaster of St. Andrew’s Scots School, one of the leading schools in Argentina, and Chair of ESSARP, the English Speaking Scholastic Association of the River Plate – comprising more than 130 bilingual schools in Argentina and Uruguay.  He has taught children of all ages, with an emphasis on secondary education, and is currently teaching a course for the International Baccalaureate modeled on the new knowledge paradigm.

Gabriel’s background as a Technology teacher and his passion for lifelong learning have naturally led to his research on 21st Century learning.  He has lectured widely both locally and internationally on the impact of technology in education, the 21st Century educational scenario, and strategies for schools to successfully address this challenge – as well as the role of leaders in this unique context.

After several years of collaborating on a very successful Spirituality program for teachers and administrators at his school and district in a non-religious setting and developing and running retreats and workshops on the topic, Gabriel and his team are presenting their ideas and experiences on how personal development can be the long sought missing piece in the puzzle of modern education.

Gabriel holds an Advanced Degree in Engineering from the University of Buenos Aires and has participated in numerous educational conferences, professional development instances and courses.  His work in Space Education Internet projects earned him several professional accolades and he was a Steering Committee member of the Mars Society from 1999 until 2009.

He lives in Buenos Aires, with his wife and two sons.  He is very active in sports, running, playing squash, and soccer.  His longtime passion for chess, a sport he competed in when he was younger is on hold until retirement.
