Laura Besser

Laura is a lifelong educator and truly believes that all students, teachers and leaders can succeed.  She embraces results, holds high expectations, and engages educators to build on their strengths.

Laura’s teaching experience spans many levels and environments.  As an instructional coach, she skillfully guided teachers to improved professional practices.  As an adult educator and literacy consultant, she was able to share experiences, best practices, and research to further impact teaching and learning in the classroom.  In her role as principal, Laura combined all of her rich experiences and knowledge into transforming teaching and learning.  Successful implementation of standards, assessment, data driven decision making, data teams, common formative assessments, and literacy resulted in documented student achievement gains, improved teaching practices, and transformation of culture and climate.  These rich experiences brought Laura to work with The Leadership and Learning Center.

Laura is a veteran member of The Leadership and Learning Center team.  Her expertise in standards, assessment, data driven decision making, data teams, writing, instruction, and leadership provide a strong foundation when working with educators throughout the country.  Laura works with classroom teachers, teacher leaders, principals, and district administrators.  She delivers seminars and key notes, facilitates dialogues and meetings, and provides coaching to administrators.  Laura also supports administrators and teachers in sustaining best practices during site visits.  She has also helped to create, and revise, many of the seminars and services that the Leadership and Learning Center provides.  Clients rave about her experience, knowledge and her enthusiastic approach to engage educators.

Laura is also the author of upcoming publications to support Data Teams implementation: Leaders Make it Happen and Organize Your Data Teams Now. She’s also contributed to Data Teams: The Big Picture.

Laura cherishes time spent with her two little boys and her husband.  They enjoy the wonderful Colorado lifestyle and spend time hiking, skiing, and biking.  Laura also enjoys reading, golfing, and cheering on the Denver Broncos.
