Lisa Almeida is the Director of Certification and a Distinguished Professional Development Associate with The Leadership and Learning Center.
Lisa is responsible for all tasks associated with certification. Certification’s primary focus is to build capacity within a system to successfully implement and sustain the important work of educators. Additionally, she spearheads The Center’s internal certification that enables us to meet the needs of clients.
Lisa has vast experiences as an educator and with The Leadership and Learning Center. She wears dual hats, which enables her to continue to work with practitioners. As a Distinguished Professional Development Associate, Lisa supports clients and their certified trainers. She supports much of The Center’s core work that includes, but is not limited to, Authentic Performance Tasks: The Engaging Classroom Assessments, Decision Making for Results and Data Teams, Five Easy Steps to a Balanced Math Program, Common Formative Assessments, certification trainings, and implementation support.
Prior to working with us, Lisa was a client of The Center’s, which resulted in her being a certified trainer for a large urban school district. As a district coordinator, Lisa supported colleagues in the implementation of Priority Standards, performance assessments, and Data-Driven Decision Making.
Lisa’s dedication and contribution to education is nonstop. In addition to supporting The Center’s clients, she is a contributing author to a variety of publications, such as Navigating Assessment and Collaboration with the Common Core State Standards, Standards and Assessment: The Core of Quality Instruction, Ahead of the Curve: The Power of Assessment to Transform Teaching and Learning and Eliminating Achievement Gaps by Meeting the Needs of the Whole Child, a Maryland ASCD publication.
Lisa graduated from the University of Nebraska in Omaha with a Master of Science in Educational Administration and The College of Saint Mary with a teaching degree.
Away from work, Lisa loves spending time with her family in the hill country of Texas. She, her husband Moises, daughter Sofia, and their “boys” (a Golden Retriever and a Labrador-mix) enjoy boating, camping, and relaxing at home. The family always looks forward to the fall – go Huskers, go Longhorns, and go Cowboys!!! Although she resides in the middle of Longhorn country, Lisa’s heart remains with the Nebraska Cornhuskers!
