Mary Vedra brings over 30 years of experience as an educator to her work as a Professional Development Associate for The Leadership and Learning Center. Mary has served as an educational leader in positions of increasing responsibility, from elementary and secondary building principal to assistant superintendent of Learning Services in private and public schools. Currently, she is employed as the Quality Education Auditor for Emirates National Schools in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Responsibilities in all of these positions have included: visionary leadership and strategic planning; instructional and administrative supervision; designing and delivering professional learning programs; reviewing and revising standards-aligned curricula and assessments; and researching, developing, implementing, and managing innovative instructional programs. With a deep commitment and passion for educational reform initiatives, Mary has continually kept abreast of and incorporated the best of current research, promising practices, and quality programs being implemented in education today.
With extensive experience working with corporate, university, public, and parochial school systems across the USA and in the Middle East, Mary brings a unique blend of real-world experience and evidence-based research to her training sessions. Mary is an accomplished presenter and is known for her passion, energy, and charismatic style. With decades of experience working on school system reform initiatives, Mary has shared with hundreds of audiences, her passion for learning, and vision for the possibilities. Her philosophy is, “To be an educator, you must never stop being a learner.”
Mary spends free time with family. She and her husband, Ken, enjoy exploring the great outdoors around the world – traveling, skiing, hiking, and biking with their two teenage sons and whenever possible, spending quality time with their four adult children.
