Common Formative Assessments Certification Training

Compelling Questions:

  • What are effective schools doing to achieve dramatic results in student learning?
  • How are educators able to assess the degree to which students are making progress?
  • How can districts build capacity and save money, while providing professional development that really improves teaching and learning

So, Why Choose Our Certification Training?

Our extraordinary 3+1 Certification Training begins with a three-day interactive training and includes follow-up Implementation Webinars and continuous support.

Based on the book, Common Formative Assessments: How to Connect Standards-Based Instruction and Assessment, the training provides participants with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to present and implement the content of the Common Formative Assessments seminar to educators within their schools and districts.

Certified Trainers will assist educators in utilizing these assessments to increase student achievement.

The Certification Training and follow-up support will help the schools and districts to:

  • Build internal capacity and save significant amounts of money
  • Provide effective on- going professional development

For less than the cost of a one-day seminar presented by a Center consultant, a certified trainer can present seminars an unlimited number of times in their school or district for a period of three years… And the Certified Trainers still receive ongoing support from senior Center consultants!

Participants must have the following prerequisites:

Why are Common Formative Assessments so effective?

  • Regular and timely feedback regarding student attainment of most critical standards in order to inform and differentiate instruction
  • Multiple-measure assessments that allow students to demonstrate their understanding in a variety of formats
  • Ongoing collaboration opportunities for teachers
  • Consistent expectations within a grade level, course, and department regarding standards, instruction, and assessment priorities
  • Agreed-upon criteria for proficiency to be met within each individual classroom, grade level, school, and district
  • Deliberate alignment of classroom, school, district assessments to better prepare students for success on state assessments
  • Results provide predictive value as to how students are likely to do on each succeeding assessment in time to make instructional modifications
