The Leadership and Learning Center's Certification Program is perfect for schools and districts that wish to increase their capacity to offer on-site, sustainable staff development. By training your own cadre of staff developers, your school or district can save money while working toward raising student achievement. For less than the cost of a one-day seminar presented by a Center consultant, a certified instructor can present seminars an unlimited number of times in their school or district for a period of three years… And the Certified Instructors still receive ongoing support from senior Center consultants!
Our extraordinary 3+1 Certification Training begins with three days of training at this event followed by four, 60 minute follow up webinars/conference calls. In order to maximize the continued support, the sessions are purposely scheduled approximately 30, 60, 90, and 120 days out from the original training.
Successful completion of the Five Easy Steps to a Balanced Math Program Certification Training will prepare participants to present the Five Easy Steps to a Balanced Math Program Seminar in their districts.
About the Training:
Building mathematically powerful students is the goal of math teachers across the nation. Five Easy Steps to a Balanced Math Program Certification Training will prepare participants to return to their schools and districts and confidently guide their teachers and leaders through each of the following five components of a balanced math program:
- Computation and Mental Math
- Problem Solving
- Conceptual Understanding
- Mastery of Math Facts
- Common Formative Assessments
This certification training will provide both in-depth understanding and application of each of the five steps along with practical suggestions for effective implementation of each of the steps in schools and school districts.
Participants will learn how to:
- Present the content of the Five Easy Steps to a Balanced Math Program seminar
- Sustain professional development by providing on-site expertise during implementation at the school and district levels
- Develop facilitation and presentation skills
Certified Instructors will receive the following support by The Center:
- PowerPoint presentation with speaker’s notes
- Several resources with background, research, and success stories
- Sample agendas, pacing guides, and implementation support
- Email and Webinar support for issues faced by Certified Instructors
- Complimentary subscription to The Center Magazine
- Certificate of completion suitable for framing
- Three year license agreement to present and implement The Center material
Prerequisite:
Participants must have participated in the full two-day Five Easy Steps to a Balanced Math Program Seminar prior to attending this training. The Leadership and Learning Center hosts the Five Easy Steps to a Balanced Math Program Seminar as part of its event calendar. What is required to become certified?
Participation in the entire three days of training as well as the followup webinars/conference calls is required to become certified.
- Demonstration of proficiency at content knowledge and skills.
- Signed licensing agreement that identifies district/school names in which you will be presenting the professional development seminar, and requires purchase of the Five Easy Steps to a Balanced Math Program Seminar training manual for every participant in seminars presented by the certified instructor.
- The certification license for using the materials and presenting the seminars is granted for three years only to the certified individual and only for use in the individual's school district.
Important Note
Attendance and full participation for three full days are required for certification. Certification will not be granted to anyone who misses any portion of the instruction. That includes leaving early for flights, so please make your travel arrangements carefully. Each participant will be required to present to colleagues multiple times and engage in collegial dialogue each day during the training.

Our group-discounted room rate is $109 per night plus tax. Please mention The Leadership and Learning Center to receive the discounted rate. The discounted rate is subject to availability and will only be available until May 4, 2012 or when the block of rooms sells out whichever comes first. If the room block does sell out, we will do our best to find a hotel near the training location at a comparable rate. Training participants are responsible for their own hotel room reservations and payments. Please note the Millennium Hotel St. Louis does not accept purchase orders as payment.
The Millennium Hotel St. Louis is located 15 miles from the Lambert International Airport. Taxi service runs from $35 - $40 each way. There is a 50% discount on prevailing parking rate for all attendees subject to availability on the black level/street level of attached parking garage. In and Out privileges are complimentary.

Prerequisite Seminar Required:
You must have previously completed the two day prerequisite seminar in order to attend this certification training. You may have attended the two day seminar through our hosted events or through onsite district training. If you have not completed this prerequisite you may either schedule the prerequisite training onsite at your district prior to this certification training or you will need to attend our next set of hosted prerequisite seminars and certification trainings.
This tuition includes instruction materials, continental breakfast, lunch, and license to present the Writing to Learn Seminar in your school and district for a period of three years from the date of this training.

Registrations will be confirmed via email. Please wait until you receive confirmation to make travel arrangements as our events may reach capacity and be sold out at any point in time.
Cancellations and Substitutions
By submitting an online registration you are agreeing to pay the registration fee regardless of the payment method specified at time of submission and you agree to this Cancellation and Substitution policy. You must cancel in writing. The Center does not give refunds. If you cancel more than 30 days in advance of the conference, The Center will apply 100% of the tuition to your Center account for future purchases of our products or services. If you cancel fewer than 30 days in advance of the conference, The Center will apply a tuition credit to your Center account, less a cancellation fee of 50% of the conference tuition. The Center permits substitutes for registered attendees who are unable to attend at the last minute. Please send notice of cancellation or substitution to MMcdevitt@LeadandLearn.com.
