About Leadership Maps
Introduction:
Derived from the L2 Matrix developed by Dr. Douglas Reeves (2002), Leadership Map™ items have been selected from an extensive range of possible antecedents that reflect current lessons from the research as well as emerging best practice. The vertical Y axis represents student achievement results that are entered when you complete your Leadership Map™ survey at leadandlearn.com. The horizontal X axis captures your understanding of best practice antecedents, and application of that understanding in your school, department, or school district. Many items reflect the practical experience of The Leadership and Learning Center, formerly the Center for Performance Assessment, assessing each leader’s understanding of those antecedents that have predictive value regarding improved student achievement.
Purpose:
The Leadership Map™ is a self-assessment tool designed to extend the knowledge and application of educational leaders. It has been created to challenge leaders to deepen their own knowledge and assess levels of implementation and application throughout the organizations they lead. For veterans and novices alike, the leadership Map™ system offers a comprehensive, standards-based, and reliable assessment of both leadership knowledge and skills.
Process:
The Leadership Map™ process provides real-time feedback about specific leadership knowledge and skills with attractive, insightful charts and graphs. The Leadership Map™ has been created for multiple administrations during each subscription year as a reflective personalized assessment of progress toward goals and indicators of effective implementation and application. It provides an excellent gateway to powerful standards-based practices. Leadership Maps™ are available in a wide range of topics, and extensive item analysis ensures that items reflect the most current and accurate reflections of leadership practice across domains and topics. Respondents can access the system multiple times and have confidence that their responses reflect accurate and current knowledge and practice in the field.
