Partners

The Leadership and Learning Center, formerly the Center for Performance Assessment, partnership program is designed to create close educational relationships to further improve student achievement.  Our partners enjoy the benefits of focused, consistent, and sustained professional development,  capacity building with district employees as certified professional developers, comprehensive accountability systems, and leadership and policy support, including individual coaching for leaders at all levels and policymaking support for the governing board.

We realize that  only focused professional development initiatives have a high-probability of long-term success.  We work with our clients to focus professional development on:

  • What to teach (academic content and performance standards).
  • How to teach it (research-based strategies for teaching and leadership).
  • How to meet the needs of individual students (differentiated teaching and assessment strategies).
  • How to lead every element of the system to achieve long-term, sustained, and continuous improvement (holistic accountability).

What is the scientific research that links this work to improved student achievement?

  • Independent university research using comparison groups establishes that the Center’s exclusive Making Standards Work professional development program is linked to higher student achievement and a reduced equity gap.
  • Independent meta-analyses of teaching and leadership practices form the basis of The Center's professional development programs.
  • Published case studies involving hundreds of thousands of students document the impact of The Center on a wide variety of school systems.

We encourage and sponsor ongoing action research and independent research in order to provide continuous improvement in teaching and learning for The Leadership and Learning Center, formerly the Center for Performance Assessment, and all of our clients. Our holistic accountability system establishes a continuous source of internal research so that client districts can learn what professional practices and leadership decisions are most effective in improving student achievement.
