Nowadays, every state must collect data on public schools and districts to establish annual achievement goals based on that data. The Leadership and Learning Center's, formerly the Center for Performance Assessment, interactive data seminars teach educators to collect and interpret meaningful data from a variety of sources and to use that data to inform decisions about instruction and assessment.

In addition to achievement goals, collection and analysis of data is critical for finding a school's own best practices. By identifying the practices that are being used that achieve high results, other teachers within the school and district will be able to duplicate these practices.
